What was the hardest part about directing it? The script was so good that my major objective was to make sure that all of that magic translated to the screen. Having a fantastic group of actors and a supportive producer helps make that task easier! What was the first thing that went through your head when you found out that the film was nominated for an Oscar? Did you think you’d be nominated? In the back of my mind I always thought that we might have a slim chance of getting to the Oscars because the script was so powerful, but nothing prepares you for the news of nomination. It is like being fired out of a cannon, the adrenaline rush is unbelievable and lasts for days! What are you looking forward to most about attending the Oscars? Everything! It is an event that is unparalleled anywhere on Earth. What advice would you give to aspiring young filmmakers looking to create successful short films and make it as far as you have? Make sure that you have the best script possible before you start filming. It sounds so basic but I have tried to help friends on many occasions who have made shorts and have reached the edit only to realize that they should have spent more time on the script. It is very hard to salvage at that point. |
